Here are some highlights of our summer.
In the spring we decided to hook up the water from the creek. When we bought the house one of the previous owners had dug a 500' trench down to the creek with pipe and wiring so he could water his lawn but when he moved he took the pump with him but we now have put another in its place. It was a good thing we did that because of the dry summer we had. My purple themed garden did great.
We have had a busy year with the cabin and it was a late fall. The leaves are turning yellow and starting to fall now with the cooler wet weather. The spring at the cabin finally started to run again yesterday.
The last few weeks have been good for collecting my winter supply of honey mushrooms. They were the biggest I have ever seen, a lot of them being 4-5" across. I love foraging for mushrooms but you have to be very careful and do your due duediligence to make sure you don't pick a deadly poisonous one.
In September we had my 60th birthday and Dwight's retirement party, we had a Viking theme and about 55 showed up in costume. Dwight and I worked about a month setting up for it and we all had a ball. I made our costumes and all the leather work as well as Dwights helm with the faux horns....pretty cool eh! We even set up a canoe to look like a viking ship.
