Today I trapped my very first nuisance beaver. There was a hole at the edge of the ice where he was coming out and taking down more trees and it was a perfect spot to place my trap. He weighed in at 40 lbs. I dragged him up the hill and home and when Dwight came home he had the job of skinning and cleaning it. He is going to try to prep the fur for me to make my first pair of mittens from my own trapped beaver. Our neighbour Jack is going to cook up some special recipe for beaver.
I am keeping the castors from this beaver to use to make trap sets for the next ones.
I am still making my fur and leather accessories and having lots of fun doing that.
Yesterday I sold my breeding trio of Ridley Bronze turkeys....the hens were already starting to lay. We kept the remaining two toms to be slaughtered at a latter date. I had my two years raising turkeys and now it is on to something else.
Time to order my seeds for the garden.
