I will head down to the developing yurt site where my carpenter will be putting the roof on my little summer kitchen.
Well I did get my whipper snipper back, it was in the long grass near the waters edge but in the meantime I got a new one, found it on Kijiji, a Sthil 86, for 95 bucks, a hell of a deal and much more powerful and balanced. I can work with it for two hours without giving my back a problem. I even got a blade for it and am pretty good at cutting up to 2" brush with it!
Owls Nest is rented for the summer and it is a great thing to rent it as it keeps everything in top working order but we hustled to get it ready, it looks gorgeous.
In between all that we had to move our tools and cats, dogs, chickens to the cabin. My log carver was here for a few days and carved up a few stumps into wind spirits and 2 bears holding up my half log bench and Dwight blue heron, they are pretty cool!
It been quite dry for the last 3 weeks but we have rain coming in tomorrow. Lots of the wildflowers I planted along the road are blooming, sweet william and shasta daisies especially. I started some lupins from seed in the garden so I can keep an eye on them. They are a gorgeous dark pink. Dwight and I keep collecting seed from all the wildflowers as they become available and then replant in the fall and spring. It take a few years but it is so beautiful once they have taken and naturalized.
