Wet, cool and miserable out. The weather this week will be between 5 and 11 and the lows 4-5 Celsius. The ice is 2/3 off the lake and it is rotting fast.
Yesterday Sally and Reagan had their 2nda baby girl, cant wait to meet her.

At the house we can finally take the canoe out around the dock which Dwight did. Yesterday our resident loon was back and calling for its mate. I will let you know when she arrives and hopefully I will have the new loon platform built by then. The little lake at the back where the cabin is is melting fast as well. Our guests walked around and I put their gear in a canoe and pushed it across the ice bridge with water on either side. My seed order came in yesterday and I am ready to plant as soon as it warms up. Its a shopping day today....I have to go into town to get some plumbing to redo the sink in the cabin. I went to the cabin yesterday, walked along the deer trail then across the lake, I did this in the morning when everything was still frozen. After supper Dwight and I walked to the cabin again and things were soft and mushy. It hit 14 degrees. There is more warm weather coming in so there should be a dramatic change by next weekend.
I am glad that we got in enough maple syrup last year for at least two years because it was and is a terrible season for everyone up here. I am ordering my garden seeds from Vesey this year and ordering a lot of their "top picks" and we will see how we like them. The mouth of the stream on the lake at our house is open and lots of ducks and geese are starting to land their. I heard my first robin this morning and we have a pair of cardinals at the feeder as well. The cardinals seem to be moving further north now. We dont often see them. |
