Woke up this morning to -15 and the lake in front of the house is crusted over. I am sure the lake at the cabin is thick enough to walk on now.
For the last week I have been busy making mittens, to get enough so I can set up an online shop with Etsy. The mittens I am making are recycled woolen sweaters and fur coats. I wash and shrink the wool and make fleece liners for them...they are oh so warm.
A few days ago I picked up a mink coat from a lady and she ended up ordering 6 pairs of mitts from it....or and you should see the raccoon mitts I made! I will never have cold hands again! and I will never have a winter with nothing to do!
Last night we had venison for dinner. My sister gave us some of theirs..loin chops and I marinated them in a red wine, garlic and fresh rosemary. Then seared them in butter until they were medium rare, then added the marinade and some blueberry sauce and made a reduction to put over the chops.....oh my god was it good!
