I went to the cabin today to check out how the lake is doing, figuring it was frozen over and yes it was. I still had three canoes in the water (now ice) Thickness, 1 1/2"
I have guests checking in tomorrow so we will have to go around on the deer trail. We have a warm spell coming in so by Sunday morning we may be able to check them out via canoe.
There is still a couple of centimeters of snow, enough to show us what we forgot to put away.
I had a lot of pie pumpkins this year, rather small which is what pie pumpkins are but very orange flesh. I just baked up the last 6 I had and put it all in a bowl, mashed it and made 10 bags for the freezer. It has become very versatile with me. I use it to thicken stews, soups, spaghetti sauce, curries, making breads.......will have to grow more next year. I save my own seeds.

An 1 1/2" of ice, I was able to pull the canoes out. Our small lake freezes over very quickly.
