Given Lucy's love of water toys and the new lower shoreline, we've come up with a new pastime, Floating Toys Water Tours. We have a bunch of different floaties that can be tied together so we all get in the water on our floats, tie them together, and paddle our way around the lake while Lucy gives a floating commentary on the flora and fauna as we make our way around. It actually was a lot of fun.
How else to stay cool when not in the water? Well our creek is very, very low so a creek walk is a great way to spend the afternoon. And what better way to walk the creek than in rubber boots with a chainsaw? The creek is mostly boulder strewn so it is great fun leaping between big rocks or skipping over small boulders on the ocassionally sandy or muddy stretch. And the chainsaw? Well there are downed trees and logs that block the creek in places causing the water to backup. Now that the water is so low I can easily get to the blockages and cut up some of the trees. Next spring when the water is rushing we should have some interesting movement of stuff down the creek.
If that is too much work or two far from the beloved cabin, then how about firing up the gas water pump and watering the yard and gardens? This is good for a couple of hours and you get to spray the dogs and guests as well as giving the grounds a good soaking. I'm not sure where these yellow dried up lawns are but they aren't at the lovely green cabin! Oh yes, they could be a Owls Nest soon. Lucy and I spend two hours watering the lawns and gardens there a few days ago and we drained the well dry!!! It recharged once we stopped but it's time to get the dieles fired water pump out of the shed and into the lake. I have a fire hose and nozzle so that should be lots of fun too!!! (Hopefully I don't spray the guest
