Up behind the yurt provided good hunting. Lots of snow still on the trail and a twelve inch pine, about 60 feet tall with just a few sickly branches on it. Down he goes. Agout a hundred feet away another pine with a broken top, another one down. Off a branch trail is a fallen spruce. I had to cut the top in the deep snow to get through a month ago. Now the snow is melted enough to reveal the prize. A couple of 12 inch logs out of that one.
With the time change I have almost three hours of light after working at the office. I've been cutting one tree and hauling 2-3 logs an evening. Some of the logs are left on the trail as the snow is too soft to haul. In fact there are about 6 logs littering the uphills where I got them out so far and then bogged down. I'm hoping Saturday morning will be below freezing as that will be my last chance to get them out on the snow. Either that or it's wait until the snow melts and go in with the tractor. Sid, where are you when I need you!!!
