The first cut was a six inch slab as the blade only comes to to 24 inches. I cut the top and two sides off which was enough to dull a blade. You know it's dull when the blade dips as you are cutting. I left the log like that planning on getting back in a day or two, but days turn into weeks and it wasn't until after the last big snowfall that I managed to get back at it. Just digging the sawmill out took quite a while.
With a new blade on I cut 3/4 inch planks. These will be for the sliding doors for my new shed at the trailhead. The log was 9 feet long and I managed to get 20 9 foot long 3/4 inch boards, 18 inches wide out of this one section. Thanks sawmill, that was a great effort you put in this season. Sleep nicely through the winter as I cut more timber for next year's run.
