Baroo is a tree fairy. The next time you walk by a tree...study it....I mean really study it and you will find the fairy in that tree.

After working with the chicken wire I wanted to try with just the roll of wire...I bought a few different gauges...got some inspiration from the net and away I went. There is one fellow "Robin Wight" in the UK who does these wonderful wire fairies....I corresponded with him and away I went to make my very first wire fairy.
She turned out delightful...a lot learned...cant wait to do the next one. There is over 100' of wire in her! so she has a bit of heft to her. Working with the wire can be a bit hard on the hands and fingers but then I can always rest them and move to something else. I like this particular lady because you can hang her from the wall or ceiling. After sculpting Moweek and Okla I bought a few more brands of polymer clay....they dont all work the same...certain ones for different applications. I love testing products.
This little root fairy below it just a twig of a thing, she flits throughout the forest without a care. Her name is Cartlee Meet MoweekWe first meet Moweek on our wood pile....Moweek is a cordwood fairy...he hangs around the firewood in hopes of getting glimpes of the funny folk who come to collect it for their stoves. The stacked wood provides many hiding places for him as well. Meet OklaOkla is a lovely little fairy that we met at the giant oak tree. She and her kind only live in the oak trees. Okla was quite chilly this one morning and whe was lucky enough to have found a tuft of raccoon fur stuck in the bark of the giant oak tree. She promptly pulled it out and stuffed it under an acorn top and used it as a hat to keep her warm.
The learning curve begins with chicken wire...a wonderful ghostly apparition...$175 Sold but can make a custom one Next comes the scary fairy she is 6' long, we have her hanging high up in a tree, example only $175 Chicken Wire, Canada Goose $100 Loon $75,Little Swallows 6" Chicken Wire $25, can be hung outsideI got this idea when I was doing my dancing stick fairy....there is so much joy in her that I wanted to do a fairy circle with 5 fairies....all my friends...dancing around a fire....with the polymer clay it would be a task. I made the armatures, blocked them in with foil (I would do this first before I covered with, then ended up taking off the foil and sculpting with the air dry clay....if it does not work I can always cover them over with polymer clay.
While in the store I saw some air dry clay (there are a few different kinds to try) so I gave that a whirl....what a joy to work with...the results were silky smooth and dainty....however it was cracking a lot...easy enough to fix but labor intensive.....keep posted on how things turn out I am also working on a pair of lovers with the same product |
