Apple Crumble
Enough for 2 or 3 apple crisps, keep in fridge or freezer till ready to use,
Layer at least 2" of cut up apples in a 9x13 pan.
Sprinkle on your apples and bake at 350 till browned to your liking, about 30 minutes. If you like it sweeter you can add 1/2 cup brown or white sugar and some cinnamon to your apples and then sprinkle the crumble on top.
TIP...IN THE FALL I BUY A COUPLE OF HUGE BAGS OF WHAT WE CALL "DEER APPLES" THEY SELL THEM OUTSIDE OF SOME OF THE GROCERIES STORES IN GATINEAU. THEY ARE NOT PERFECT APPLES ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK AND TASTE GREAT TO US.
I PEEL THEM ALL AND MIX THEM WITH BROWN SUGAR, CINNAMON, A BIT OF NUTMEG AND A TOUCH OF FLOUR AND FREEZE THEM IN BAGS THAT ARE JUST ENOUGH FOR ONE PIE OR APPLE CRISP. I TAKE A BAG OUT, SPREAD IT OUT IN A 9 BY 13 OR A BIT SMALLER PAN.....SPRINKLE WITH CRUMBLE AND IN THE OVEN IT GOES. IT IS FAST AND SIMPLE AND ONE OF THOSE GREAT COMFORT FOODS.
