Welcome to Owl's Nest cottage rental...2 bedrooms with queen bed
We are situated in the rolling forested Gatineau Hills of Quebec on a small quiet lake surrounded by hills, trees and many trails. You are sitting up on the side of a hill with a magnificent view of the lake and 400 ft from the shore. There is a dock about 60' long and 2' wide with railing to get to the 12' by 16' floating patform where you can relax on adirondack chairs and watch the wildlife and birds all around you. The water here is still kind of weedy so you can take a canoe or rowboat, air mattress to get to the swimming float about 30' away.
While at Owl's Nest you can also enjoy the city of Ottawa/Gatineau which is only a 30 minute drive away. Through the countryside it is 30 minutes to Wakefield.
There are walking trails literally starting in your back yard. With 230 acres of lakefront, stream, hills and forest, it is the ideal spot for anyone interested in bird watching, nature walks, peace and quiet.
There are lots of books, games, DVD movies, fire pit outside for your camp fires, outdoor games, bocce and horse shoes, water toys, etc.
Pets, yes we allow pets, only well behaved pets that have been treated with a flea product. If the dogs get dirty they can just be hosed off outside.
There is satellite TV as well as a DVD, IPOD player & lots of DVD movies. Bring your favourite CD”s. There is also high speed satellite internet.
There is an extra TV in the 2nd bedroom with queen bed for watching DVD's only
Owls Nest has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The master suite has an ensuite bathroom with tub and shower, double sinks.
There are a couple of canoes, paddle boat and rowboat for your enjoyment which will also take you out to the swimming raft away from the natural weedy shoreline. There is also a 9' inflatable island to lounge around in and a variety of floating toys. There are two life jackets included, but because life jackets are a personal thing in various sizes please bring your own as well as beach towels.
No sandy beaches....the lake is a mud bottom lake with weeds on the shoreline where the wildlife abounds. In June and part of July you will hear a symphony of bull frogs. The village of Perkins is only 3 miles away where you will find a couple of basic local restaurants, or you can pick up some prepared food and a bottle of wine/beer/liquor at the local grocer's deli, then bring it back to the lake to enjoy. There is a BBQ & extra tank for your use.
The focal point of Owl's Nest is the magnificent central fieldstone fireplace with woodstove inserts at both ends. Open concept.
At the cottage there is a large well appointed screened in porch and deck for you to enjoy the view.
W just ask that you leave the cottage the way you found it.
