Mmmmmm Sunday morning starts with a cafe au lait with home made caramel sauce sitting in front of the fire. I have such a wonderful husband and not just because he makes me coffee. This has started me on my "Lucy Cooks" page.

Winter is back, beautiful sun-14 this morn and going up to -7 and lots of new fresh snow.
Picking guests up at the cabin this morn and then more snow-mobiling and snow shoeing. Dwight and I did that all afternoon yesterday and even managed to open a new trail and found some more dead standing trees. We love our big back yard.

I have been on a Vietnamese cooking craze as of late. Tom Yum Gai soup and spring rolls which are like these really healthy salad rolls dipped in a limy garlic fish yum....to almost die for! I think I will post a recipe page:) Stay tuned

We will be hosting a timber frame course the middle of June and putting up a 16' by 20' barn in 6 days. Should be fun. The biggest beams we need are 4 8x8's 20' long. Today Dwight got out 2 logs for 2 of them. There was a hill he could not get it up so he hooked up the snow mobile Venture to the front of the ATV with tracks and up we went, not problem. Balmy, no snow for a while and we are almost the end of February! Cant complain as there is enough on the ground for us to snow mobile. I have been busy the past week with guests in the yurt and cabin....it's a fun job.

Looking forward to the Timber Frame course we will be hosting in June and the ten Heritage Turkey babies (Ridley Bronze poults) that we will be getting in the spring, we shall give it a try.

Our four hens are still giving us 4 eggs a day....they are such good happy girls.
Tonight the yurt is free so I am off with a friend for dinner and ov

Hi Everyone,

We feel sooooooooooo bad right now, our hearts are broken. Heidi has died after being with us for fourteen days.

In the first few days she had a cough in the evening while settling in to sleep, well that cleared up but she always seemed kind of winded after a big walk, she would often lag behind and we would call her pokey. Around the house she played and ran like crazy with the other dogs. Other than that she was the picture of health. I was going to make an appointment with the vet in the next few days to check her over and to see if she was spayed.

Today we had a friend drop by with her dog and they all had a blast. After that I went to the cabin to do a bit of work and the dogs showed up....buggers, I told them to stay home, when I headed back Heidi lagged behind. Dwight was concerned that she was not back yet, I told him,  she will show up, she knows the way.  We needed to go into town to pick up his car. Dwight almost lost the wheel on his car this morning before he hit the highway in the morning traffic. When the tow truck picked up his car the tire feel off! That man has a guardian angle watching over him and Heidi is now one of them.

It was almost dark when he got home and Dwight went looking for her and there she was on the trail like she had fallen over on her side with her legs straight out and a fair amount of pink stuff and foam coming out of her mouth. I believe she had pneumonia, Poor Heidi, she was loved and died on the trail....we are so so sad.

Darn, I wish I had taken her to the vet the first day I got her regardless of her zest for life, she was such a sweetheart and my heart aches for for her right now.
